M.Phil in Basic Education

This programme trains students to equip them with the appropriate skill in solving challenges in the teaching and learning of Basic Education.
The key objectives are;
- To equip student with deeper knowledge of Basic Education content.
- To equip students with strategies that can improve learners/pupils’ motivation through interactive problem-solving activities.
- To equip students with practical skills to carry out independent research Basic Education
Upon successful completion, the graduate teachers will;
- Have deeper knowledge of Basic Education to assist them teach students
- Have developed strategies that can improve learners/pupils’ motivation through interactive problem-solving activities.
- Have practical skills to carry out independent research in Basic Education
Admission Eligibility
- A good first degree (at least a Second Class Lower Division) in education or any related field of study from an accredited University; or
- A Third Class degree or Pass graduates will attend selection interview and would be admitted after passing the interview.

iii. An applicant with a 12-month M.A/Med. In Educational Studies/ Educational Administration/Educational Planning degree who wishes to enroll on the M.Phil. programme may be required to take additional courses and present a thesis as prescribed by the Division
